Thyristors comprise Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs) and Triacs.
All WeEn thyristors use glassless Planar Passivation technology, for best high voltage and high temperature ruggedness. They have excellent dynamic characteristics and immunity to false triggering.
- SCRs are unidirectional devices and conduct load current in only one direction. SCRs are triggered by a positive trigger current into the gate. Low power applications include circuit breakers like GFCI and engine ignition circuits. High power applications include motor control, inrush current protection, battery chargers, SMPS and UPS. WeEn SCRs have a current range from 0.8A to 126A, voltage range from 200V to 1600V and are available in a variety of industry standard, SMD and through-hole power packages.
- Triacs are current-controlled, bidirectional power latches, designed to control AC-mains loads. WeEn offers the original four-quadrant triacs and the much improved three-quadrant (Hi-Com) triacs. More advanced designs, the ACT and ACTT product families, offer overvoltage clamping, resulting in improved immunity to false triggering caused by overvoltage transients. Triacs are mainly used in home appliances, electrical (water) heaters, lamp dimmers and motor control applications. WeEn triacs have a current range from 0.2A to 45A and voltages are 600V, 800V and 1000V. They are available in a variety of industry standard, SMD and through-hole power packages.
